The annual St. Rose Carnival was the setting for a recent outing by the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club. The event, held on the St. Rose of Lima church grounds, gave members a chance to photograph this popular local gathering.
Organized by club members Sandy, and joined by Michelle, Margaret, Rhonda, and Chane, the meetup drew photographers who aimed to document the carnival and practice long exposures. The subjects included people, the various rides, and the general activity of the evening.
A specific goal for the night was practicing long-exposure photography. This technique was used to capture the movement of carnival rides as trails of light. It was a practical way to learn this method with their cameras. The outing also provided an opportunity for members to work together and share ideas.
“What a fun time our Flagpole Photographers Camera Club members had exploring the exciting St. Rose Annual Carnival in Newtown, CT!” Chane stated. “Capturing the joy, capturing the scary rides, using long exposure to capture moving rides in a cool way. Lots of fun and comradery. A great way to practice and learn.”
Flagpole Photographers invites its members to suggest ideas for new outings through its member Meetup Forums. More information can be found at https://flagpolephotographers.com/members-only/member-info/#meetup.
