Call for Entries: “Summer Newtown Exhibit”

Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary

Flagpole Photographers and community members are invited to participate in a special photo exhibit at the Newtown Municipal Center! To honor our town and celebrate our country’s 250th Anniversary, we are highlighting the beauty, history, and spirit of Newtown.

The format for this event is similar to our annual “Newtown and Beyond” exhibits, but without the “Beyond”! We want Newtown photos to line the hallways during July and August. A special option for this exhibit is framed photos are allowed.

🗓️ Key Dates & Deadlines

  • June 13: Email your photo titles and prices to Flagpole Info.
  • June 19: Final deadline to deliver photos to Rhonda Cullens.
  • Early Hanging: Another exhibit is currently on display at one end of the hallway for June, but we start hanging Newtown photos next week on the opposite end. Feel free to submit your photos now for early hanging!
  • Late June: Final installation and adjustments will be completed at the end of this month.

🖼️ Presentation & Hanging Requirements

Please review the framing guidelines carefully to ensure your photos can be safely displayed:

  • Framed Photos: Frames must have a hanging wire secured across the back.
    • Note: Sawtooth hangers do not work with the Municipal Center hooks and cannot be accepted.
  • Unframed Photos: Photos do not have to be framed, but they must be securely mounted to a lightweight backing board or foam core so they remain intact through the end of August.

💰 Sales & Labels

  • Photos may be offered for sale.
  • All entries must have a label attached to the bottom center of the piece.
  • For complete details on exhibit guidelines, pricing guidelines and to download the standard label template, visit the Flagpole Photographers Exhibit Info Page.

🏠 Special Historic Feature

In addition to general community submissions, club member Chane Cullens is working on a special feature for this exhibit! He is currently photographing some of the many historic Newtown homes still standing today that were built before we declared our independence in 1776.
