Event Highlights
The Flagpole Photographers Workshop Day on Saturday, May 1, 2027, is a great way to boost your photography skills while capturing photos around historic Newtown. Work side-by-side with award-winning club photographers for the entire session.
Agenda
- 8:50 AM: Meet at the morning outdoor session location. <TBD>
- 9:00 AM: While taking photos, focus on fundamentals: holding the camera steady, composition, and moving for different angles, heights, and distances.
- 9:30 AM: Learn about changing how much of the scene should and can be in focus, and how this alters composition options.
- 10:00 AM: Break and drive to the mid-morning outdoor session location.
- 10:30 AM: Learn about capturing motion: freezing motion, blurring motion, and choosing what is appropriate for the scene.
- 11:00 AM: Treasure Hunt! Combine what you have learned to create better photos.
- Noon: Lunch on your own. Take photos of your food and surroundings. Review your photos and choose 3 to share. (If you prefer, bring your lunch to the afternoon indoor location).
- 1:00 PM: Move indoors for the afternoon session. Share your 3 photos, then watch and learn while they are reviewed and edited.
- 2:30 PM: Finished.
*If the weather is bad, the entire workshop will move inside to the Newtown Senior Center.
