2016 Flagpole Photographers Camera Club Holiday Party
On Friday evening, December 9th, the Flagpole Photographers held their annual Holiday Party. The evening began with tasty appetizers and beverages and lively conversation during which Yankee Swap gifts mounted up on a table by the Christmas tree and prints for the informal photo competition accumulated on another table. In due course, a lovely buffet of many delicious main courses and side dishes was laid out and Flagpole members and their guests helped themselves and sat down together to enjoy the feast.
After the main course and preceding dessert, those in attendance voted on their favorite photo in the competition which had “My Favorite Photograph” as a theme. The vote came down to a three way tie for the top honor so Mark Ashbolt, Doug Bilinski and Chane Cullens were asked to give a bit of history about their photos and why they had chosen them as their all-time favorite for this competition.
There were many wonderfully decadent desserts to enjoy before the Yankee Swap commenced. After dessert, everyone participating in the Swap drew a number out of a cup and, in order of their number, could chose a gift from the gift table. If anyone was less than delighted with the gift they chose, they could exchange it for someone else’s gift they liked better. As always, this was a lot of fun and you were never sure if your gift was going to be taken away from you and replaced with someone else’s!
Following the gift exchange, the group was treated to a viewing of a video created by Chane Cullens of the club’s 2016 activities. Photos of program nights, exhibits and field trips were highlighted and set to motion and music. The video is available for viewing on the club website as well.
It was a very, very pleasant evening and gave all an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the party’s success.
