Program – Action Photography
Visitors are welcome to attend this free event.
Newtown Bee’s Sports Editor Andy Hutchison is the guest speaker. Andy is presenting action photography. If there’s anyone who knows about capturing movement in photos, it’s a sports photographer! Anyone who has seen Andy’s work knows how good he is at capturing athletes in all conditions — in gymnasiums, swimming pools, and all weather from sunny and bright to cloudy, overcast and even under darkened skies.
From The Newtown Bee’s March 21, 2025 edition:
Sports Editor To Present Photography Tips At Flagpole Photographers Meeting April 10
Calling all sports parent photographers – If you are interested in gaining some insight and tips for enhancing your action photography skills, including angles, working with dim lighting, camera settings, and more, the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club will have a meeting devoted to action photography on Thursday, April 10. It will take place at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street, beginning at 7:30 pm. The public is welcome and there is no charge.
Newtown Bee Sports Editor Andy Hutchison will be the guest speaker/presenter and will share examples of photos published and not published in the paper along with what to look for when photographing a fast-moving sporting event. There will be hands-on learning after the talk and a question and answer session.
Note: The Bee accepts submitted photos for publication consideration (send to andyh@thebee.com with Newtown athletes identified and details on when and where the game was played with final score). Attending this presentation may provide photographers with tips that will help them capture photos that are more likely to be considered for publication.
